Other features on the new Chevy Corvette
We used to think the C7 was the best Corvette ever made. We've revised our statement and say it's now the best front-engined Corvette we have ever driven. But the best Corvette we have driven to date is the new Corvette Stingray Mid-Engine Coupe. Period.
It's a full second faster than its older sibling and capable of hitting nearly 200 miles per hour thanks to its naturally-aspirated small-block V8 engine. Torque delivery is immediate because there's no turbo-lag or supercharger spin-up to deal with. Just squeeze the skinny pedal and go. The sound and the fury are intoxicating.
As we have found through many years of driving all types of vehicles, the ride comfort in a sports car can sometimes be harsh and bone-rattling. The new Corvette Stingray Mid-Engine Coupe is nothing of the sort. Thanks to the C8's ride control, it can be optimized for Sport, Sport+ or Touring, which is just the ticket for a relaxing, yet exhilarating ride and performance. Available magnetic ride control manages to read the road hundreds of times per second and magnetically tweaks the adjustable dampers accordingly. The General Motors-designed system is so good that it even finds its way into several Ferrari sports car models.
