      2nd Mav

by Generalmgr on 5/10/2026 12:26:28 PM

2025 Lariat hybrid AWD. Had a 2023 2.0 XLT. No real complaints about either. Hybrid efficiency around town is great, like 50 mpg. Highway at 70mph I’m only getting 33-34. Tows my 2-ATV trailer ok, but plan ahead if any get up and go is needed. The truck has plenty of torque at lower speeds but the lack of power at higher speeds is noticeable. This is my first EVT, didn’t think I’d like it but it really works perfectly. The best part is going downhill… the truck will maintain the speed you’re at when you lift off the gas. When the truck transitions from electric to gas, there is zero indication…no noise or shudder…zero. If you’re not looking at the dash you’d never know what mode the truck is in. The Lariat hybrid is much quieter overall than the EB. Auto headlights work really well. Did great in the heavy snow we had this year. Lane centering works very well. Few nitpicks: no fog light option? C’mon man. I’m not a fan of the touch only hvac controls, and they lag a bit on startup. The various menus in the dash cluster and in the infotainment screen are not at all intuitive, they are ridiculously bad….whoever signed off on those needs to find another profession. Good thing you don’t have to do much in there once you have things set up the way you like. I wish the truck had a slightly bigger battery…it would be nice to be able to go a a mile or two on electric only if you’re in Eco mode. The Lariat should have a super-cruise option, and a built in dash cam option. A cold weather package would be icing on the cake , especially if it included covering up the various under body areas that appear vulnerable from being open to the elements. Overall: yes I’d buy another Maverick, and I do recommend them to others….but… if other manufacturers come out with a truck that has all my wish list items, then I’d consider switching.

A versatile vehicle! 2023 Mav Tremor

by TremorNV on 11/23/2025 3:02:38 AM

I went with the Tremor trim for more off-road capability. So far there hasn’t been a thing I couldn’t do with this Mav. I’ve gone on long road trips, explored rough trails, loaded lumber, hauled a sectional, towed a side by side with it, driven in Tahoe snow and many other things. First, I’d say it’s actually a fun drive. It really sticks to road and handling it is super easy. Yes, it has a plastic interior and the tech does feel a little outdated but you get what you pay for. It’s a 33k mini truck. I haven’t had any issues. The heated steering wheel is the hottest of any other one I’ve had. It has over gotten stuck on me and the bed is like 6.5 ft long with the tail gate down. Capable of hauling ten foot wood, which I’ve done. The gas mileage on my Tremor (Awd eco boost) is 28-29, which makes me happy. Truthfully, back in 2019 when Ford brought the Ranger back… it should have been this truck. It’s a great little truck, beats the Santa Cruz any day!

      surprises come in smaller packages

by Dptazzz on 11/16/2025 5:40:02 PM

i didnt buy the truck i wanted, i bought the one i needed.. big enough to tow any future toys, small enough to take on long trips, as well as comfortable, and not driving like a bigger pickup.. gas mileage runs 28.8 to 30.2, i can get it a bit higher on long trips. Economy option helps a good deal when cruising for long periods, having the truck run in FWD when its most economical, and not needing the extra traction, is a plus.. the seats are more comfortable than my Cadillac ATS, and they were all leather.. it drives fairly quiet, no, not luxury sedan quiet, but, better than my other 1500 series pickups ive had. bed is big enough for me, i already used it to move from one house to another across town, and towed by trailer behind me, once with my 800lb motorcycle, and didnt really notice it. i drove thru snow and ice heading to missouri, at the end of 2022 ( i got the truck new in April of 2022 ). and I passed a LOT of cars while driving thru slushy snow, snow covered roads, etc, with no real issues. I grew up mainly in Missouri, so snow and ice covered roads, are second nature. A good vehicle with great traction wasnt always underneath me, this truck never made me nervous, and I passed going up hill, passing trucks slowing everyone down, in those nice hills on US 65 out of Arkansas going up into Missouri. Yea.. truck handled it like a champ. i simply have no real complaints, other than a string of modest recalls. which all but the last one have been tended to, and i simply have to have the time to Get to this last one. i would buy this truck again.. I ordered it, bought it without a test drive.. Lariat with tow package.. it simply is a great little truck.
